a brooklyn street corner

Williamsburg

72 inches x 48 inches

The artist wanted to see if ordinary soda cans could be used to reproduce the brilliance of a stained glass window. He discovered the pharmacy window shown here in a newspaper photo of a religious celebration among Hasidic Jews in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood. The green and red of the stained glass come from 7-Up and cola cans. The brownstone buildings are constructed from root beer cans.
